In 1992, Jane Beaumont Hall and Richard Doyon founded Bright Light Studio. Together they developed several multimedia projects including ThinkingStudio™, winner of the Oracle Million Dollar Challenge Grant. ThinkingStudio combines film, text, music, and other media with a unique create development program to help elementary and high school students learn and practice critical thinking skills.
Jane and Richard have co-authored four feature film scripts. With Petra Luna, Richard and Jane co-authored Eggs in America, winner of the Palme d'Or for Best Script at the 2003 Beverly Hills Film Festival. Jane and Petra co-authored, produced and directed The Mission, a short comedy film. Jane and Petra Luna co-produced and directed Debussy Has Left the Building, a celebration of the beauty and seductiveness of classical piano.
In 2006, Birght Light Studio released their feature film The Legend of Tillamook's Gold. Jane directed the film, while co-authoring the screenplay and producing the film with Richard. The film was screened at many film festivals, winning many awards. It was picked up by Netflix and was on cable TV with two runs on Starz and featured on Showtime for a multi-year run.
Jane received her MFA in production from the USC School of Film and Television. An attorney and former prosecutor, and litigator, she turned to film and multimedia as a way to tap her creative side (not that law isn't creative).
Richard has a long history with software development and developed the technology for the Digital Exploratory Exhibition System which was used to create (with director Fabian Wagmister) the award winning ..dos, tres, muchos Guevaras. A finalist in the 2000 Leonardo New Horizons Awards, ...dos tres muchos Guevaras has shown in Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, San Jose (Costa Rica), Santiago and Havana and is scheduled to become a permanent exhibit at the Che Guevara Memorial in Santa Clara, Cuba.
